BIO
Amber Byrne Mahoney is a photographer and visual artist living and working in the Hudson Valley, NY, the unceded lands of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans. The ancestral name Muh-he-con-ne-ok translates to: “People of the waters that are never still.”
Guided by a liminal kind of looking — looking as an act of curiosity rather than knowing — and moved by the possibility that attention can be a radical act of care, her practice exists at the intersection of moving and still imagery, field recordings, poetry, storytelling, research, and wonder.
Born in Australia, 1984.
MFA, Rhode Island School of Design, 2022.
